TECHNOLOGY
ANALYSIS OF CULTURE AND DIGITAL MEDIA
The impact of
Technology on Culture
It has become a
lot of intellectuals and researchers have discussed the subject of the impact
of technology and communications on human life, especially in recent times,
where the spread of the Internet through smartphones and portable devices is the unprecedented way.
Argue (Andrew
Murphie, 2017)In
his book, Culture, and Technology, he says that people have become virtual in
all areas of life, from shopping to education and work to social
relations. The interaction of people
with Technology, especially communication and information technology, is
represented on the Internet and the services it provides in communications,
such as social media, blogs, and other websites that
provide services and information. Here,
we can ask how the relationship between Technology and culture can be analyzed
when cultural sources have become linked to Technology.
People receive
news, information, and entertainment from one place and can work from the
same place or home. Here, technology has become a controlling culture by
providing a wide range of information and different cultures. As shared (Postman, 2011). Society no longer
uses technology only as a support system but is shaped by it.” Yes, we
have become affected and influential simultaneously through what we receive
from culture and information through technology and what we publish on various
means of technology, especially the means of communication. Therefore, we can
assume that communication technology, information, and culture impact each other in the current era.
For example, a person can be positively
affected when technology is used for learning, reading, scientific research,
and other things that elevate the human mind and thus become a positive
element. When you provide content on the Internet, it is positive content and
vice versa. When you follow up on moral and social corruption, what you provide
will be what you receive. According to (AUXIER, 2020), a survey of U.S.
adults was conducted July 13-19, 2020. One-in-ten Americans say social media
sites have a mostly positive effect on how things are going, and one quarter
says these platforms have neither a positive nor negative effect. The bottom line is that
communication technology serves societies, individuals, and institutions in all
its forms. It bears the positive and the negative together, just as medicine carries the side effect.
