THE POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY ON THE WORKPLACE

 How Has Technology Affected Workplace

Communication technology has affected business positively and effectively and has negative effects. as shared by (Radwan Ali, 2010)," Today's information and communications technology (ICT) provides unprecedented amounts of information to organizations and their employees." (p,2) On the part of companies, it has facilitated many jobs, such as communication between local and international companies. From an internal perspective, it has facilitated communication between the employees of one company. Meetings have become through various technology applications such as Zoom or Skype  Or social media applications such as WhatsApp and others, in addition to changing the workplace, especially in disasters and crises, where employees can work from home and grant company employees the development of their skills by communicating with others in the same field of work and benefiting from their experiences or through easy access to  The information is available all the time on the Internet.

It also granted communication and information technology, especially through social media, from promoting itself or its products to becoming global, reaching its products worldwide. According to (Brambilla, 2018)," As a result of investment in information and communications technology, firms grow, become more intensive in complex tasks, become more skilled, and employ more skilled workers as long as skilled labor is complementary to information and communications technology." (p,3)that would increase the number of jobs on the one hand and, on the other, increase the chances of companies to expand and succeed.

Technology has affected individuals' jobs, but the impact was not highly negative. It led to dispensing some traditional jobs to be replaced by many specialized jobs for participation (u.s, 2013). "The high demand for the services provided by this industry has created a large number of fast-growing and high-paying IT jobs." (p,1). ICT has forced new jobs or new skills for companies to keep pace with the market, such as e-marketing. For example, many companies have been quick to develop the skills of their employees without dispensing with them, especially media organizations such as BBC and CNN.

According to (RAINIE, 2014), the Internet and cell phones have infiltrated everywhere in American workplaces, and digital technology has changed many American jobs. Work done in the most advanced scientific institutions, entirely new technology companies, a wide range of knowledge and informational endeavors, places where crops are grown, and the factory floor. The Internet has penetrated all areas of human life to become one of the most important foundations of industry, commerce, and communication.
