THE IMPACT OF INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY ON NEWS

Modern Media (Social Media News)

Communication and information technology represented in social media platforms, blogs, and websites have affected how media organizations distribute news in an unprecedented way. The public is no longer a recipient of the news but has become involved in it, and they can choose what suits them or interests them. They can now receive the entire newsletter without waiting for it at a specific time and place to participate (Eun-Ju Lee, 2017). "Innovations in communication technology have changed the way news is produced and consumed" (p,4), and now receive, news updates the moment they happen without the trouble of effort. Yes, smartphones and mobile devices equipped with the Internet allow all that.

News organizations are now broadcasting the news bulletin through social media platforms faster and more spread, reaching all parts of the world without the need to establish stations sent in each country to broadcast signals Social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter are now broadcasting global news around the clock to a wide audience at minimal costs according to (pew research, center, 2022), Digital news has become an important part of Americans' news media diets, with social media playing a crucial role in news consumption. Today, half of U.S. adults get news at least sometimes from social media.

The most prominent defect in using social media platforms is the spread of rumors and fake news, which is widely popular in a few moments. This news can affect the country's political, economic, social, and cultural life. Controlling this dilemma may often be difficult, for example, spreading rumors and lies about the COVID-19 vaccine.
